which logoWhich? are another one of Consumer Focus Accredited comparison sites. They State:

Which? Switch is the online switching service from Which?, an organisation with more than 50 years experience providing expert and independent advice to consumers. Which? launched Which? Which? – a name you can trust

Which? Switch is brought to you by Which?, the UK’s consumer association, so you can be assured that our energy switching advice is 100% unbiased and accurate.

We say: I quite like their comparison tool. But I just feel, they are sticking their finger in yet another pie. They say their switching service is not for profit, that the income they get from energy switching goes into campaigns to help you save more money. I translate that into marketing expenses.

the energy shop logo

They are Consumer Focus Accredited. They state:

TheEnergyShop is a free, independent and totally impartial energy price comparison service that brings you the cheapest deals for switching gas, electricity or dual fuel supplier anywhere in Great Britain. You can review over 50,000 up to date energy prices fast and securely on one single site. Our service is accredited by the Consumer Focus government watchdog, is and always will be FREE and will save you up to £450 on your gas and electricity bills.

We say: They have put a lot of work into their comparison tool. Unfortunately, they have made it look complicated. They also state you can save up to £450. This is nonsense, because that figure would be based on one heavy consumers actual saving. All the comparison sites will save you the same amount. Their energy calculators are based on the charges which each supplier has in place.

Can I trust uSwitch?

Yes, we’re the best at comparing energy prices, but don’t just take our word for it. Since 2006 uSwitch has been fully accredited by the new Consumer Focus Confidence Code. With many energy comparison sites to choose from, uSwitch has been one of the longest standing signatories to the Consumer Focus code, and a primary contributor to pricing transparency in the industry.

We say: Another comparison site that wants your email just to get quotes. Not for me thank you. It looks like they are trying to clean up their act though. A few years back, Uswitch were in trouble for giving quotes in their favour, instead of the consumers favour. It will be some time before I learn to gain trust in this company.
