Choosing a supplier from the comparison site

I last switched my home energy in July 2018. I’m on a 12 month fixed price tariff with E.ON. When I switched, I didn’t switch to the cheapest deal. I’m always happy to switch to any cheaper deal than be placed on the default standard tariff. When my fixed price comes to an end, I will get new quotes then switch to another supplier just to avoid being placed on a standard tariff. I won’t switch to the cheapest. I’ll just switch to a cheaper deal.

Why don’t I switch to the cheapest tariff?

It’s usually a new supplier offering the cheapest tariff. I like things to run smoothly. New suppliers have a learning curve to get through. New suppliers take your first payment on day one of joining them. I prefer to go with a supplier which takes your first payment one month in arrears.
