Is it pointless switching supplier just now?

Switching energy supplier may seem a bit pointless at the moment.

If you have recently checked tariffs on an energy comparison site, the whole idea of switching supplier may at first, appear to be a waste of time. After all, the whole idea of switching supplier is to get a better price surely.

So what is going on with energy prices at the moment?

Energy suppliers are gearing up for the big increase on 1st October 2021. So if you are getting quotes based on your current energy prices, it may appear you won’t be making a saving. In fact, you may even be paying more if you switch supplier.

That’s not great either is it? Is there something else?

  1. Hi, I’m in the process of switching from So energy to Avro and Avro have collapsed. What will happen to my switch? Will it move to Avro and then whoever Ofgem appoint or stay with so energy?

    1. Hello Rachael. This depends on what stage your energy switch is at. If it’s early stages, your current supplier can object to the switch. If your switch is in the near final stages, your switch can still go ahead and as you suggest, You will be transferred to the supplier of last resort.
You have nothing to worry about. Just sit back and relax. You can always switch to another supplier once everything has been finalised. It doesn’t take too long these days.
