Is there a better energy deal?
During these times of unsettled energy prices, it would appear there is nothing worth switching to.
Normally when you are looking for a cheaper energy price, you would compare the prices on an energy comparison site. At this time, the comparison sites are not offering any cheaper energy tariffs.
Updated 1st April 2022
The following information relates to the previous price cap for October 2021. The current price cap has come into force 1st April 2022. At this time, there are currently no better energy deals to be had.
Why is this?
Every 6 months OFGEM sets a maximum price that suppliers can charge for Standard Energy. The idea behind this was to prevent energy suppliers over charging customers who don’t switch supplier.
What has happened now is, the capped price that has been set for October 2021 is lower than the suppliers can physically trade with. In fact, based on the massive wholesale price increase, many of the small suppliers will fall by the wayside.
Traditionally, Standard Energy has always been more expensive than special deals you would find online, but because the suppliers can’t offer their usual cheaper deals they would give to new customers, they simply withdrew all their lower priced tariffs.
Is there any tariff worth switching to?
Let’s look at the possibilities:
[table id=164 /]
Currently, the only tariff we could find that could work for some, is Octopus Go. This is more suited to those with electric cars. Also, if you used your appliances such as dishwasher and washing machine in the off peak times, you may benefit from this tariff.
This is not for everyone, you would need to be able to work out if it is suited to you.
Off peak times are 00:30 to 04:30
How to get it:
You need to be an existing customer of Octopus before you can apply for Octopus Go. That’s easy though, you just sign up to any of the Octopus tariffs, then change to Octopus Go once you are a customer.
Does Energy Advisory Service UK recommend this tariff, and do they benefit from anyone switching to it?
We don’t recommend this tariff to everyone. You would really need to work out if it fits with your energy usage.
We do benefit if you switch to Octopus after clicking a link from this website, but we also benefit when consumers switch to any of the suppliers after clicking a link on this website.
The Link To Octopus Energy:
You can get more information on Octopus tariffs when you visit their website. In addition, you will get £50 free credit when you switch your gas and electricity through this link. Visit Octopus
